In a candid interview with Vanity Fair, Stan revealed that a $65,000 residuals payment from his role in the 2010 film Hot Tub Time Machine was a lifeline during a tough period. "I was actually struggling with work," Stan admitted. "I had just gotten off the phone with my business manager, who told me I was saved by $65,000 that came in residuals from Hot Tub Time Machine."
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige shared with Vanity Fair that the studio saw great potential in Stan for the Winter Soldier role, despite his relative obscurity at the time. "You could see that he has so much inside him and so much behind his eyes. I’ll never forget that," Feige remarked.
