While it may not be as well-known as Netflix or Hulu, Sling TV has carved out a significant niche in the streaming wars. Launched in 2015, Sling TV pioneered the concept of live TV streaming, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional cable subscriptions. Subscribers enjoy access to numerous popular channels, a DVR service, and the flexibility to watch content at home or on the go across up to three devices. Dive into the details below to discover more about Sling TV, including its channel lineup, sports offerings such as MLB games, and monthly pricing.
250% off your first month! $45.99 save 50% $23.00 at Sling TV
Sling TV is a subscription-based live TV streaming service that delivers a wide array of popular channels, live sports, news, and more without the burden of long-term commitments. It's a go-to choice for cord-cutters seeking a more budget-friendly option compared to giants like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV. The service offers various plans tailored to different interests, rather than a one-size-fits-all model. Every plan comes with 50 hours of DVR storage, enabling you to record and watch your favorite live TV, shows, and movies at your convenience.
A key distinction (and the reason for its lower cost) is that Sling TV does not include local channels like ABC, CBS, and NBC. Instead, it suggests pairing your subscription with an HD antenna (available separately) to access local programming.
Sling TV is compatible with a vast range of devices, including Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV devices, PS5, PS4, Xbox consoles, select Samsung, LG, and Vizio smart TVs, Google TV, Xfinity devices, TiVo, and more.

Unlike competitors such as Fubo, Sling TV doesn't offer a free trial for new subscribers. However, it does provide a free streaming service called Sling Freestream, which offers numerous ad-supported channels and content at no cost.
Sling TV offers two main plans: Orange and Blue. Both are priced at $45.99 per month, but they cater to different viewing preferences. For those wanting the full experience, combining the Orange and Blue plans gives access to a comprehensive 46-channel lineup, including all 22 exclusive channels, for $60.99 per month.
The Orange plan is ideal for sports fans and families, featuring channels such as ESPN, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, HGTV, Food Network, Lifetime, Nick Jr., Comedy Central, TBS, and more. It includes 35 channels (eight exclusive) and allows streaming on one device at a time, with the option to add more devices.
The Blue plan targets pro football enthusiasts and news junkies, offering 43 channels (16 exclusive) like CNN, Bloomberg TV, Fox (in select markets), FS1, Fox News, MSNBC, and NFL Network. This plan allows streaming on up to three devices simultaneously.
Yes, Sling TV enables you to watch live sports, although local games typically require an additional HD antenna. The channel split between the Orange and Blue plans means you'll need to choose which sports networks are crucial for you.
The Orange plan includes ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3, whereas the Blue plan swaps these for NFL Network and FS1. You can catch live NFL, NBA, MLB, and other sports across these channels. Dedicated sports fans may want to add the sports bundle to access additional channels like NCAA networks, NFL Redzone, MLB Network, NBA TV, NBC Golf, and the Tennis Channel. This service also covers March Madness games.
As mentioned, Sling TV's Orange or Blue plans are priced at $45.99 per month, with the combined plan costing $60.99. A current promotion offers 50% off the first month. For greater savings, you can prepay for three months for as low as $99.
You can enhance your Sling TV subscription with add-ons. For avid DVR users, the Unlimited Cloud DVR upgrade costs an extra $5/month and includes an Auto Record feature that saves live sporting events for up to three days.
Sports enthusiasts can opt for the sports bundle, priced at $11-15/month depending on your base plan, to enjoy more live sports. For comprehensive NFL coverage, learn how to watch NFL games online.
