Sega took to Twitter (X) on April 9 to announce that *Sonic Rumble* will hit the global market on May 8, 2025. Accompanying this exciting news was the release of a new trailer, giving fans a glimpse into the game's dynamic gameplay.Sonic Rumble marks the franchise's first venture into multiplayer party gaming, allowing up to 32 players to compete in diverse levels and challenges. Sega describes the experience as, "Players control a character from the Sonic series as they navigate a toy world crafted by the notorious Dr. Eggman, tackling perilous obstacle courses and hazardous arenas!"
Given its free-to-play model, concerns about potential pay-to-win elements have surfaced. However, Sonic Rumble's Director, Makoto Tase, addressed these worries during an interview with Automaton at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September 2024. He clarified, "Our goal is to implement a casual purchasing system where players can quickly buy what they want for a small, fixed amount, steering clear of the gacha system that relies on probability for item acquisition."
Sonic Rumble Reaches Over 900k Pre-Registrations
Shortly after announcing the release date, Sega revealed that Sonic Rumble has surpassed 900,000 pre-registrations. Each milestone in the pre-registration campaign unlocks valuable in-game rewards for players, setting them up for success from the start.
