The iconic gang from South Park, featuring Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman, is set to make a grand return in Season 27. The beloved Colorado crew will once again tackle the absurdities of the modern world, albeit in their uniquely nonchalant style.
A new trailer for the upcoming season was recently unveiled, cleverly misleading viewers into thinking it was a sneak peek at a new drama series. The trailer starts with intense editing and suspenseful music, setting an ominous tone. However, the mood shifts hilariously when Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear. Randy, sitting with Shelley on her bed in front of a Wicked movie poster, casually asks her if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you."
After this comedic interlude, the trailer returns to its intense visuals, hinting at several major plot points and topical events for the new season. These include multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a cameo by P. Diddy, and a familiar conflict with Canada—a recurring theme for fans, especially those who remember the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
The trailer also confirms that Season 27 of South Park will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has released three specials: South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children) in 2023, followed by South Park: The End of Obesity in 2024.
South Park, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, first aired on Comedy Central in 1997 and has since garnered widespread acclaim for its sharp wit and satirical take on contemporary issues.
