Shift Up, the developer behind the acclaimed action-adventure game Stellar Blade, recently rewarded its employees with a generous year-end bonus: a PlayStation 5 Pro and approximately $3,400. This significant gesture follows the game's remarkable success since its April 2024 launch.

Stellar Blade, despite initial minor controversies, quickly became a critical and commercial darling, boasting an 82 average score on OpenCritic and garnering numerous awards and nominations. Its fast-paced combat, striking art style, and memorable soundtrack have resonated strongly with players. The game's continued popularity is further fueled by successful collaborations, including a recent Nier: Automata crossover and a future collaboration with Goddess of Victory: Nikke. A holiday event, featuring festive decorations, music, and costumes, further enhanced the player experience.

The approximately 300 employees of the Korean studio received the PS5 Pros as part of the bonus, a move lauded by a company representative as a means of boosting employee morale and encouraging future success. This generosity comes on the heels of Shift Up's highly successful $320 million IPO in July 2024, making it the second-largest in South Korea that year.

The success story continues, with a PC port of Stellar Blade slated for release in 2025, a move anticipated to further expand the game's reach and player base. The PS5 version alone sold one million units in its first two months.
