Amazon's 2024 best-seller list places the Meta Quest 3S as the leading console in the video game category, securing the #11 overall spot. This ranking is impressive, especially considering the dominance of gift cards and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions on the list. The PlayStation 5 Slim trailed at #17, and the Nintendo Switch at #53. Notably, Xbox consoles were absent from the top 80, although its peripherals appeared. The PlayStation 5 Pro was also missing. Only a Nintendo microSDXC card and the PlayStation DualSense controller ranked higher (#8 and #9 respectively).
VR Accessibility Takes Center Stage
Sony's PlayStation VR2 failed to make the Amazon list, highlighting the Quest 3S's advantage. Its untethered design and standalone functionality offer greater freedom and eliminate the need for additional hardware investments, potentially boosting its appeal.
Interestingly, the discontinued Meta Quest 2 also ranked (#27), while the original Meta Quest 3 didn't feature in the top 80, suggesting price sensitivity within the VR market. With the Nintendo Switch 2's 2025 release, the 2025 rankings will be fascinating. Nintendo's potential repeat success could significantly impact Amazon's video game sales.
