Feb 07,2025 Author: Caleb

Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise releases. This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but! We've got news, a look at today's eShop additions, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!

Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games

Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved effective, delivering a flurry of announcements. Highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video for a complete overview.

Select New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania collection joins the fray, a welcome surprise from the Direct. It features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. Also included is the notoriously poor arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. The collection offers excellent emulation and a wealth of features, providing exceptional value for the price.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch. Players must navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will appreciate this title, but even those without strong Wario feelings should find the fast-paced platforming engaging. A review is planned.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

Another surprise release! Goat Simulator 3 continues the series' chaotic brand of gameplay. While performance on the Switch remains unverified, it's worth noting that more powerful systems have experienced some difficulties. Proceed with caution, but remember that even poor performance might add to the game's inherent absurdity. It's a game of silly goats doing silly things in an open world – your Switch might not appreciate it!

Peglin ($19.99)

I believe EA missed a significant opportunity by not bringing PopCap games to the Switch. For Peggle fans, Peglin is a highly recommended alternative. This mobile hit shines on the Switch, blending Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft adds a popular license to its familiar shop simulation formula. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story features characters from the Doraemon manga and anime, with appearances from characters from the creator's other works.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can participate in local or online multiplayer. The puzzle stages require cooperation and clever problem-solving. A solid sequel, but unlikely to attract new players.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game showcasing Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple, but enjoyable for the price.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style puzzle game featuring penguins. One hundred levels of crate-pushing await.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Players utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
