Piston puts your vehicle's diagnostic information right at your fingertips.

Is your Check Engine Light (MIL) illuminated? Use Piston to transform your mobile device into a car scanner, reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and Freeze Frame data to help you identify and resolve the issue.

Simply connect a Bluetooth or WiFi ELM327 adapter to your vehicle's OBD2 port. Piston guides you through the connection process, with instructions accessible from the Home page after initial setup or anytime via Settings.

With Piston you can:

• Read and clear OBD2-standard Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

• Review Freeze Frame data (sensor readings captured when the ECU detects a malfunction)

• Access real-time sensor data

• Check Readiness Monitors status (emission control system monitoring)

• Save read DTCs to local history

• Log in to store DTCs in the cloud

• Access sensor readout charts

• Export real-time sensor data to a file

• Check your vehicle's VIN

• View ECU details, including OBD protocol and supported PIDs

To function as a car scanner, this app requires a separate Bluetooth or WiFi ELM327 device. Piston is compatible with OBD-II (also known as OBDII or OBD2) and EOBD standards.

All vehicles sold in the United States since 1996 must support the OBD2 standard.

In the European Union, EOBD became mandatory for petrol vehicles from 2001 and for diesel vehicles from 2004. Australia and New Zealand require OBD2 for petrol cars manufactured from 2006 and diesel cars from 2007.

Important: This application can only access data that your vehicle supports and provides via the OBD2 standard.
