"Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Revealed for Nintendo Switch 2"

No Nintendo console would be complete without a Zelda game, and the Nintendo Switch 2 is no exception, bringing us a surprising twist with the announcement during today's Nintendo Direct. Koei Tecmo is set to release a new addition to the Hyrule Warriors series: a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom titled *Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment*, slated for release this winter.
*Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment* dives into the lore of the ancient history seen in Tears of the Kingdom, featuring a cast of characters from that era. This includes Zelda, of course, alongside Rauru, Sonia, and other Secret Stone holders. The game narrates Zelda's adventures during the time she traveled back to the past in Tears of the Kingdom, where she collaborates with the last Zonai survivors—Rauru, his sister Mineru, and his wife Sonia—to battle Ganondorf and his forces.

The trailer showcased some of the impressive abilities of these champions, including Mineru piloting a mech, Zelda wielding her magic, Rauru brandishing a unique sword-spear, and a fleeting look at other Sacred Stone wielders.
This marks the third installment in the Hyrule Warriors series, following the original Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which served as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Age of Calamity was notable for its fresh take on the Breath of the Wild narrative, and it's intriguing to see if Age of Imprisonment will similarly venture into uncharted territory. We awarded Age of Calamity a 9/10, praising it as "a joy to play and discover" and "a blast from start to finish."
