The story of *The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - Northern War* begins in the autonomous province of Northumbria, located in the northwest of the Zemurian continent. Set between the events of the original *Trails of Cold Steel II* and *Trails of Cold Steel III*, the "Northern War" unfolds from the perspective of Lavie, a young hunter and member of the famed “Northern Jaegers.”

The year is S. 1205.

Lavie was born and raised in Northumbria, a self-governing territory in the northwest reaches of the Zemurian continent.

Driven to protect her homeland and redeem her family's honor—her grandfather Vlad was once a celebrated hero who later betrayed his people—she volunteers for the continent's largest hunter corps, the "Northern Jaegers," and carries out her duties with fierce determination.

One day, Lavie, whose relentless dedication to her mission often leads to breaches of discipline, is forced to team up with fellow Jaegers Marty, Iseria, and Talion. They are given a perilous assignment: infiltrate the Erebonian Empire on a covert spy mission.

Their objective is to uncover intelligence on the mysterious "Hero of the Empire," a figure who poses a grave threat to Northumbria's safety.
