Overwatch 2 Unveils Exclusive Events in China

Overwatch 2's Grand Return to China

Overwatch 2 is making a triumphant return to China on February 19, coinciding with the start of Season 15. This relaunch promises a wealth of rewards for Chinese players, covering Seasons 1 through 9, along with exciting in-game events. The anticipation is high, as the Chinese Overwatch 2 community gears up to dive back into the world of Future Earth.

The announcement of Overwatch 2's return to China was accompanied by a technical test from January 8 to 15, allowing fans to experience the content they missed, including Overwatch: Classic and the six new heroes introduced since the servers went offline in China during Season 2. This test was a sneak peek into what's to come, setting the stage for the full relaunch.

In a message shared on Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote), Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller detailed the upcoming "Return to China" celebration. This multi-week event will feature some of the most beloved in-game events and rewards from the past two years. Chinese players will have the opportunity to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the relaunch, and from Seasons 3 through 9 through in-game events following the game's return.

Chinese Mythology in Overwatch 2 Season 15

Adding to the excitement, Keller revealed that Season 15 will introduce skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While details are sparse, it's unclear whether these skins will be new or existing, exclusive to China, or part of a broader Chinese mythology theme similar to the Norse mythology-inspired cosmetics of Season 14. Fans won't have to wait long to uncover these mysteries, as Season 15 kicks off on February 18, just before the game's official relaunch in China.

With the new season approaching, more information is expected to be revealed in early February, building anticipation for what's in store. In the meantime, global fans can participate in various events, including the second 6v6 test, "Min 1, Max 3," from January 21 to February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Additionally, the Lunar New Year and the Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are scheduled before Season 15, ensuring a packed calendar of engaging content.

While Chinese players may miss out on these global events, they have their own special celebrations to look forward to as Overwatch 2 makes its much-anticipated return to China.
