I started as a casual Xbox player before fully embracing PC gaming. Steam's frequent sales kept me satisfied with new releases, making Game Pass seem unnecessary—until now. Yesterday changed everything.
Bethesda and Virtuos stealth-launched Oblivion Remastered directly into Game Pass. Though rumors swirled, the actual reveal still shocked fans. Tomorrow brings Clair Obscur: Expedition 33—Sandfall Interactive's stunning JRPG-inspired debut. As an RPG enthusiast, I'll admit: Microsoft finally won me over.

Oblivion Remastered launched April 22 for PC, consoles, and Game Pass. Like countless others, I spent hours downloading only to lose myself in its revitalized world overnight. Key improvements include rebuilt character models, enhanced combat mechanics, and upgraded visual effects. While incorporating new voice talent, Virtuos wisely retained the original dialogue's quirky charm. The $49.99 base edition includes all original DLC, while a $59.99 deluxe version offers additional content.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, launching tonight at midnight PST, already boasts a 92 Metacritic score. IGN's 9/10 review highlights its compelling narrative and praises it as "a modern love letter to classic JRPGs." The game's Persona-esque interface and innovative turn-based combat system immediately caught my attention. Remarkably, it shares Oblivion Remastered's $49.99 launch price.
Though Sandfall's debut was Game Pass's April centerpiece, Oblivion's surprise arrival raised concerns about overshadowing. Personally, I see two phenomenal games—and Game Pass makes enjoying both financially feasible. Instead of $100 for two purchases, I paid $20 for Game Pass Ultimate. My only remaining concern? When I'll see sunlight again.
Recently added heavy hitters like Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed join service staples including GTA V and Call of Duty's entire catalog. This diverse lineup truly offers something for everyone.
Why Game Pass Delivers Unmatched Value
Game Pass Ultimate ($19.99/month) provides full library access across all platforms including cloud gaming. PC-specific subscriptions cost $9.99 monthly. The $14.99 Standard and $9.99 Core tiers exclude day-one releases. Following July 2024's price increase, these premium additions suggest another potential hike this year.
While no current promotions exist, three-month subscriptions offer protection against future increases. For other platforms, check our updated PS5, PC, and Switch deals. Speaking of which, U.S. Nintendo Switch 2 preorders begin tonight.
