Alexa Plus Now Available on Select Echo Show Devices

Jun 16,2025 Author: Hannah

There's a powerful new voice assistant in development — and it’s called Alexa+. This next-generation evolution of Amazon’s well-known Alexa is driven by advanced generative AI technology, offering users a more natural and engaging conversational experience. Unlike the standard Alexa, Alexa+ aims to understand context better and maintain fluid conversations, making interactions feel more human-like. As Amazon describes, “Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done.”

At the time of writing, Alexa+ is still in its Early Access phase, but only available on select Echo Show models including the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you already own one of these devices or are considering purchasing, you can be among the first to test this upgraded assistant. To stay updated on availability, visit the official Amazon page and sign up for release notifications. Once the Early Access period concludes, Alexa+ will be offered as a free benefit to Amazon Prime members, or available via a monthly subscription at $19.99 for non-Prime users.

With its improved conversational interface, Alexa+ allows users to ask follow-up questions naturally and engage in multi-step dialogues without repeating context. Whether it's managing your daily tasks, retrieving calendar details, or booking a table at your favorite restaurant, Alexa+ makes completing everyday actions easier and more intuitive. According to Amazon, new features are being added regularly during the Early Access period, so even more functionality is expected in the future.

Device Compatibility and Future Availability

It's important to note that not all existing Echo devices support Alexa+. Older models such as the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen will continue to operate with the original Alexa experience. However, Amazon has confirmed plans to expand Alexa+ compatibility to additional platforms, including Fire TV, Fire tablets, and the web-based Alexa.com in the near future.
