This month, Pokémon Go welcomes its first Galar region arrivals, offering options for trainers seeking either adorable companions or formidable power. The Sweet Discoveries event introduces Applin and its evolutionary forms, while the fiery Dynamax Entei heats up a decidedly intense Max Battle Weekend.
Running from April 24th to 29th, Sweet Discoveries features the debut of the tiny Dragon/Grass-type Applin. Catching it is only the first step—you’ll need 200 Applin Candy and 20 apples to trigger its evolution. Using a Tart Apple yields Flapple, while a Sweet Apple results in Appletun. Apples can be found randomly in the wild, particularly near activated Mossy Lures, and may even trigger special Applin encounters.
Event wild spawns include Bounsweet, Skwovet, and the festive Delibird. Field Research tasks and Eggs provide additional opportunities to obtain themed Pokémon such as Munchlax and Cherubi. Trainers can also acquire Sweet and Tart Apples through Timed Research, available in both free and paid tracks. The paid option grants extra Mossy Lure Modules and additional encounters, including Applin.

Be sure to visit the in-game shop for the Applin Headband and Apron, and watch for PokéStop Showcases featuring event-themed Pokémon. If roaring power appeals to you more than fruity friends, mark your calendar for April 26th–27th and the debut of Dynamax Entei. Lucky trainers might even encounter a Shiny variant.

Event bonuses include an increased Max Particle cap, a reduced walking distance to collect them, and faster Power Spot refresh rates. You'll also earn eight times the usual Max Particles from each Power Spot visited. Free Timed Research begins on April 21st as a lead-in; completing it rewards a Dynamax Sobble, a useful ally against Entei's Fire-type moves.
You can stock up on supplies for both events at the Pokémon Go Web Store.
