Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of last year's Helldivers 2, is currently developing a new, "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt recently solicited fan input on social media, sparking a flurry of suggestions.
Community ideas ranged from a Smash TV remake to projects inspired by Star Fox. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake has been previously considered, and also hinted at a Star Fox-esque title within the "rail game" genre.
While details remain scarce, Arrowhead's proactive community engagement is evident. The remarkable success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.
A recent update for Helldivers 2 has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. The Omens of Tyranny expansion, a surprise release at the 2024 Game Awards, has been well-received, particularly the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, the 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and the new urban warfare maps. With a rumored Killzone crossover also in the works, Helldivers 2 appears poised for continued success in 2025.
