After two failed launches and months of anticipation, *Rune Slayer* has finally hit the scene, and it's nothing short of GLORIOUS. Whether you're a seasoned MMORPG player or a newcomer, there's a lot to unpack in this expansive world. To help you kickstart your adventure, we've put together a comprehensive guide to ease you into the realms of *Rune Slayer*.
Here are some essential tips we wish we had known from the get-go, which would have made our journey smoother:
When we first heard about *Rune Slayer*'s full-loot PvP system, we braced for a chaotic experience. However, our fears were largely unfounded. **In *Rune Slayer*, you don't lose anything upon death**, even if it's at the hands of another player. You simply respawn and continue your adventure.
But here's the catch: **attacking other players incurs a bounty**. The more players you kill, the higher your bounty grows, and a higher bounty means **more items dropped upon your death**. Essentially, you turn the game into full-loot PvP by initiating attacks on other players, which can lead to significant losses if you're taken down.
Therefore, our advice is to **refrain from attacking other players** unless you have a compelling reason or the backing of a group of friends ready to support your PvP endeavors.
You'll quickly realize that both your **bank space and inventory are limited**. With a cap at 50 items, your inventory can fill up fast. To manage this, **craft bags** as soon as possible. You can equip up to two bags simultaneously, starting with the **Cotton Bag**.
To craft a Cotton Bag, gather **Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south**. Be cautious in the southern areas due to more aggressive mobs. Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots to your inventory, so prioritize crafting these early on.
A common misunderstanding is that your tamed pets die when their health reaches zero. This isn't the case. **When a pet's health hits zero, it's unavailable for summoning for 5 minutes**. You can check this cooldown by holding **T** after your pet is "killed." Once the cooldown is over, hold **T** again to summon your pet back into action.
Bonus Tip: To **quickly heal your pet**, store and then unstore it at the stable master. You have one free slot, so make use of it.
*Rune Slayer* is packed with quests, many of which are not repeatable and might blend into the background. Most quests follow the familiar "Kill 10 X" format seen in many MMORPGs. To make the most of your time, **accept every quest you encounter**, including those from the Job board. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more efficient than tackling them one by one. You might even find yourself completing several quests unknowingly, as we did when we returned to Wayshire with multiple quests ready to turn in.
While it's crucial to craft what you need, don't hesitate to use **spare materials to craft items you don't immediately need**. Crafting new items for the first time often **unlocks more advanced and powerful crafting options**. For instance, smelting your first Iron Ore can unlock a range of new Iron Armor recipes. So, be liberal with your materials and explore all crafting possibilities.
Though *Rune Slayer* is solo-friendly, you'll encounter **tougher enemies** as you progress. Many of these, especially those with large health bars, are designed for group combat. **Joining a guild** is the simplest way to find a team to tackle these challenges. Use the general chat or the official *Rune Slayer* Discord server to find a guild that suits your playstyle.
**And that’s all there is to it. Enjoy your journey in *Rune Slayer*, and if you're yet to start, don't forget to explore the *Rune Slayer* Trello and join the Discord community for more insights and camaraderie.**
