Targeting Nu Udra's Weak Points
Nu Udra presents a challenging fight due to its extensive reach, courtesy of its massive tentacles. While these tentacles are powerful weapons, they also offer melee fighters a readily accessible attack point. Severing them yields valuable materials, but proceed with caution.
Ranged weapon users have more options, but focusing on Nu Udra's mouth is highly recommended, boasting a 4-star weakness. The head is another viable target, with a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, but remains effective for blunt and cut damage.
Utilizing Watermoss and Fire Resistance
Nu Udra's fire affinity is a significant threat. Beyond its limb attacks, it employs devastating fire attacks and can even engulf itself in flames, inflicting the dangerous Fireblight debuff. Countering this, using Watermoss is crucial for safely engaging the beast.
Equipping fire-resistant gear is strongly advised. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is an excellent choice. Consider also using decorations that reduce elemental damage, such as the Fire Res Jewel or the Stream Jewel (for increased Water Attack damage).
Avoiding Devastating Grab Attacks
Nu Udra's grab attack is particularly dangerous. If you get too close, it will ensnare you with its tentacles, briefly pausing before unleashing a fiery blast. During this pause, use a knife to break free or utilize your Slinger to attack its weak point.

Capturing Nu Udra

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the monster significantly—look for the skull icon next to its health bar. Lure it into the trap using meat, or simply run behind it as it targets you. Once trapped, quickly use a Tranquilizer; you have approximately five seconds before it breaks free.
Mastering these strategies will significantly improve your chances of defeating and capturing Nu Udra. Don't hesitate to utilize multiplayer for assistance; this hunt is challenging even for experienced hunters.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
