Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Ongoing Triumph

New Project Confirmed

Sandfall Interactive Team Developing Next Game

The phenomenal success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has transformed developer Sandfall Interactive's trajectory, creating exciting opportunities for the French studio - including strong potential for a new title. In a May 27 interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Sandfall COO and Producer François Meurisse discussed post-launch plans following their Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG.

"We're definitely making another video game," Meurisse confirmed. While details remain undefined, the team is enthusiastic about potential concepts. "We're excited to further explore ideas we've already brainstormed for our next project," he added.

Clair Obscur Dev Team Gained Valuable Experience

Meurisse noted the team's significant professional growth during development: "Many team members started as juniors. We've evolved our collaborative processes. This positions us much stronger going into our next project compared to when we founded the studio five years ago - though expectations will naturally be higher now." He specifically mentioned creative director Guillaume Cerda's compelling concepts for their next title.

Whether this will be an Expedition 33 sequel or new IP remains unconfirmed. Meanwhile, players speculate about potential DLC following positive hints from Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen earlier this month.

Record-Breaking Sales: 3.3 Million in 33 Days

Expedition 33 continues achieving remarkable milestones, including one that perfectly mirrors its theme. On May 27, Sandfall Interactive revealed the game sold 3.3 million copies in its first 33 days via Twitter (X).

"This is real. Today's numbers. We couldn't invent this coincidence," the post stated. "Just another surreal moment your incredible support has made possible. Thank you everyone." While consistent success was expected, these magical numbers exceeded all projections.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates about the game, check our related coverage below.
