Annapurna Interactive's mass resignation leaves some game projects unaffected. Control 2 and Wanderstop are among the titles seemingly continuing development despite the upheaval.
Key Projects Progressing Despite Publisher Shake-up
The recent mass resignation at Annapurna Interactive has understandably caused concern for developers whose games were being published by the company. However, several teams have confirmed their projects remain on track.
Remedy Entertainment, developers of Control 2, clarified that their agreement is with Annapurna Pictures and that they are self-publishing Control 2, ensuring continued development. Similarly, Davey Wreden and Team Ivy Road have confirmed that Wanderstop's development remains unaffected. Lushfoil Photography Sim, while acknowledging the loss of the Annapurna Interactive team, also reports being largely unaffected due to its near-completion. Beethoven & Dinosaur have also reassured fans that their project, Mixtape, continues.
However, uncertainty remains for other titles, including No Code's Silent Hill: Downfall, Furcula's Morsels, Great Ape Games' The Lost Wild, Dinogod's Bounty Star, and the internally developed Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth. These developers have yet to publicly address the situation.
Annapurna Pictures CEO Megan Ellison has stated that supporting their development partners is a top priority during this transition. While the future remains unclear for some projects, many developers remain optimistic about their individual games' progress.
Annapurna Interactive's Mass Resignation
The entire 25-person Annapurna Interactive team resigned this month due to disagreements over the studio's future direction, following the departure of former president Nathan Gary. Despite this, Annapurna Pictures remains committed to interactive entertainment.
The situation remains fluid, but for several key titles, development appears to be continuing despite the significant changes at Annapurna Interactive.
