Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, envisions a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film alongside Keanu Reeves. This exciting prospect was shared with ScreenRant during an interview promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where Elba and Reeves reunite as Knuckles and Shadow, respectively.
Elba enthusiastically stated that a live-action adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077, featuring himself and Reeves, would be incredible. He believes their characters' on-screen pairing would be electrifying.
Reeves famously portrayed Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, while Elba played Solomon Reed in the Phantom Liberty expansion. Adding fuel to the fire, Variety reported in October 2023 that a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project is underway, with CD Projekt Red collaborating with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Witcher live-action series suggests a Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation is a strong possibility.
Beyond the live-action film, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched, focusing on Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also slated for 2025. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red has hinted at a new Cyberpunk 2077 animated series in development. The future of Cyberpunk looks bright, with multiple projects in the works.
