"Defeat and Capture Quematrice: Monster Hunter Wilds Guide"

Want to take down the fearsome Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds without getting scorched or losing your meat? Don’t worry, brave hunter, we’ve got you covered. Here, we'll delve into the Quematrice's weaknesses, effective strategies, attacks to watch out for, and how to not just defeat, but also capture this fiery beast.

How to Beat Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Weaknesses: Water
Resistances: N/A
Immunities: Sonic Bomb

The Quematrice, a giant chicken-like creature reminiscent of the Cockatrice, fortunately breathes fire instead of petrifying its foes. As a mid-sized monster, it's vulnerable to most weapons, though its area-based attacks might make ranged weapons a safer choice for less confident hunters.

Notable Attacks:

  • Tail Strikes and Sweeps: These can deal damage, but the tail slam is particularly dangerous when you're positioned behind the Quematrice. It lifts its tail high before slamming it down. Dodge or block to avoid damage.
  • Fire Attacks: These are the real threat, causing immediate damage and potentially setting you and the ground ablaze, which drains your health. The Quematrice can launch a fire attack by rearing its head and roaring before igniting a flame from its tail. It can also perform a full sweep, hitting everything around it with fire after a similar roar and lift. Be cautious of its charging attack, where it runs towards you and then turns to fling fire. If you're at range, start moving backward to evade the flames.

How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

To capture the Quematrice, you'll need the right gear: a Shock Trap and a Pitfall Trap, along with at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap is technically sufficient, having a backup is crucial in Monster Hunter games, especially if the monster flees or another creature triggers it.

Once the Quematrice is weakened to the point of limping, or you notice the skull icon on the mini-map, it's time to set a trap. For simplicity, wait until the monster moves to a new area after limping away. Place your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and then throw two Tranq Bombs to secure your capture.
