Destiny 2 Hints at Classic Weapon

Destiny 2 enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of the iconic hand cannon, The Palindrome, returning to the game with the launch of Episode: Heresy on February 4. This speculation stems from a cryptic tweet posted by the Destiny 2 team's official Twitter account, which fans quickly identified as a palindrome—a hint that The Palindrome may make a comeback. As Destiny 2 has recently experienced one of its lowest points in player count and retention, the community is hopeful that Episode: Heresy will be a game-changer, revitalizing interest before the next major content drop, Codename: Frontiers, later this year.

With the conclusion of Episode: Revenant, the second episode in the series, Bungie has already started teasing the next big update. Episode: Revenant received mixed feedback, with the community expressing dissatisfaction over its narrative and gameplay content, which led to waning interest in the MMORPG. However, it did manage to reintroduce several beloved weapons, including the classic Icebreaker exotic sniper rifle from the original Destiny.

It appears that Bungie is set to continue this trend by bringing back even more classic weapons in Episode: Heresy. The mysterious tweet, being a palindrome, has led many to believe that The Palindrome, a legendary hand cannon that has been part of the Destiny series since the first game, will return. While not officially confirmed, the anticipation among fans is high.

The Return of The Palindrome Should Be a More Triumphant One This Time

This isn't the first time The Palindrome has been available in Destiny 2, but it was removed from rotation following the 2022 Witch Queen expansion. In its previous iterations, the hand cannon was known for its dominance in PvP, but recent versions have disappointed fans due to less desirable perk selections.

The community is eager for the next version of The Palindrome to feature more competitive, "meta" perks. While details about Episode: Heresy are still scarce, apart from its focus on the Hive and the Dreadnought—elements from the original game—Bungie is expected to reveal more about the reintroduction of fan-favorite weapons as the release date approaches.
