In the vast world of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the Blackroot herb stands out as a crucial element, especially when you need to perform the Miester's Ritual in the fourth act. Guided by Miester Siva, crafting the special Ritual Bowl is essential for entering the Hall of Echoes and gaining the Night Vision skill. This bowl requires a ritual bowl, a bloody obsidian lancet, and the elusive Blackroot.
During your first ritual, all necessary ingredients are conveniently located in Siva's basement. However, subsequent rituals, which you can perform after earning each Source point, demand that you gather all the ingredients yourself. While securing a ritual bowl and obsidian lancet is relatively straightforward, often already in your inventory, finding Blackroot can be a daunting task. If you're struggling to locate this herb, this guide is here to assist.
Cloisterwood, a dense forest nestled in the northwestern part of Reaper's Coast, is just a short journey north from Driftwood. Once you're immersed in the forest, press and hold the left ALT key to highlight all available pickups.
As you explore, keep an eye out for various herbs at the base of trees, including the coveted Blackroots. Although you only need one for the ritual, it's wise to collect a few extras as a precaution. Without delving into spoilers, remember you can perform the ritual each time you gain a Source point.
Cloisterwood is brimming with secrets, from NPCs that can help you earn Source points to an undead trader and a formidable witch. Hannag and Jahan, two NPCs within the forest, can each assist you in gaining a Source point, with Jahan also playing a role in Lohse's storyline. Deep within some ruins, you'll find Eithne, the undead trader. By choosing the "Divine Order" option when interacting with her, you can unlock a side quest.
Venturing further north in Cloisterwood leads to a pier where the Dead Ferryman awaits, offering passage to Bloodmoon Island. These are just a few of the notable encounters in Cloisterwood. The forest also holds other secrets like the Wrecker's Cave and the potential to obtain a unique loremaster amulet by conversing with the spirit of a ship captain. If you're exploring Cloisterwood for the first time, make sure to thoroughly investigate the area. However, it's recommended to avoid the crucified witch, Alice Alisceon, until you reach at least level 15.
