在最近接受Automaton采访时，Hatoyama解释说，“咚咚岛”最初的计划并没有那么庞大，但在开发过程中发生了很大的转变。Hatoyama提到：“一开始，咚咚岛比较小，但不知不觉中它就变大了。”RGG工作室通过在这个迷你游戏中添加更多家具配方，将他们的计划提升了一个档次。
RGG工作室编辑并重复使用了过去的资源，以增加“咚咚岛”中家具配方的数量。Hatoyama分享说，他们“几分钟内”就制作出了单个家具，而创建资源的典型时间可能需要几天甚至一个月才能完成。来自《如龙》系列的丰富的游戏资源库使团队能够快速创建并将大量家具整合到“咚咚岛”中。
添加更多家具和扩展“咚咚岛”的空间源于为玩家提供新的和令人耳目一新的游戏方式的想法。这个大型岛屿和冗长的家具配方清单让玩家拥有更大的自由度和乐趣，可以将这个垃圾场/岛屿改造成一个五星级岛屿度假村。
