Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2: A DRM-Free Experience
Saber Interactive has officially confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will launch without any DRM (Digital Rights Management) software. This announcement addresses player concerns regarding performance impacts often associated with DRM technologies. The FAQ released by the developers clarifies this key detail as the game's September 9th release date approaches.
The decision to forgo DRM is noteworthy, given its common use in preventing game piracy. However, the developers have opted to employ Easy Anti-Cheat software on the PC version to combat cheating. This anti-cheat software has faced scrutiny in the past, notably in relation to an Apex Legends incident.
Further clarifying aspects of the game, Saber Interactive has stated there are currently no plans for official mod support. While this may disappoint some, the game will include a PvP arena, horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode. Importantly, the developers have guaranteed that all gameplay content will be free, with any microtransactions limited exclusively to cosmetic items. No paid DLC is planned. In short, the game promises a fully featured experience without the inclusion of DRM or pay-to-win mechanics.
