Dune: Awakening Character Creation Now Open

Exciting news for fans of the Dune universe: the highly anticipated survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, is set to launch on May 20th, 2025. The game will initially be available on PC via Steam, with subsequent releases planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a later date. In anticipation of the full release, developer Funcom has already opened the Character Creator and Benchmark Mode, allowing eager players to start crafting their avatars and testing their PC's compatibility with the game.

With the Character Creator, players have the freedom to customize every detail of their character's appearance. Additionally, they can choose their home planet, caste, and a mentor or class that will shape their journey in the game. Characters created now will be seamlessly imported into the full game upon its launch. As an added incentive, early creators will receive an exclusive Frameblade knife skin, which can be redeemed with a code on launch day.

The Benchmark Sequence is designed to test your PC's performance, automatically adjusting graphics settings to ensure the best possible gameplay experience. This sequence guides players through a player-built desert base, the bustling Harko Village (a Harkonnen player hub), and culminates in a dramatic encounter with a colossal sandworm.

Priced at USD 49.99, Dune: Awakening will soon be available for pre-order on Steam. Those who pre-order will receive a unique in-base decoration, the Terrarium of Muad'Dib, featuring the beloved desert kangaroo mouse from the series.

Dune: Awakening Features An Alternate World

Drawing inspiration from Frank Herbert's iconic Dune novels and the subsequent movie adaptations, Dune: Awakening is an open-world multiplayer survival game set in the expansive universe of Arrakis. Players begin as a prisoner tasked with unraveling the mystery of the Fremen's disappearance. As the cinematic storyline unfolds, your character evolves from an unknown entity to a pivotal figure, aligning with either the Atreides or the Harkonnen factions.

The game's world, the ever-changing desert of Arrakis, offers endless opportunities for exploration. Each week brings new locations, challenges, and rewards, prompting players to explore and conquer the unknown. In this dynamic environment, players can build bases, engage in combat, explore vast landscapes, and interact with other inhabitants. Your actions will forge your legacy as you ascend through the ranks in the world of Dune.
