Elden Ring is set to make its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025, a thrilling announcement that came during Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct. While it's still unclear how this version will compare to those on other platforms, the inclusion in today's presentation confirms that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will be available to Nintendo fans later this year.
Since its release in February 2022, Elden Ring has become a cultural phenomenon, selling over 13 million copies within its first month and nearly 29 million copies to date. It has seen players conquer its bosses using the innovative Nintendo Switch Ring Fit controller and has inspired ambitious speedrunning challenges. The game was further enhanced with the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in 2023, and the upcoming cooperative spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign, is showing promise in early public network test sessions.IGN's 10/10 review praised Elden Ring as "a massive iteration on what FromSoftware began with the Souls series, bringing its relentlessly challenging combat to an incredible open world that gives us the freedom to choose our own path."
