Fortnite Adds a Highly Requested Feature

Summary

  • Fortnite players can now equip festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings.
  • This feature, easily accessible via the locker's new "instruments" option, has been incredibly well-received.
  • The update also includes Godzilla collaboration cosmetics, offering new outfits and accessories.

Fortnite's Chapter 6 Season 1 update introduces a highly anticipated feature: the ability to use Fortnite Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings. This is just one of several additions to the game that have been met with enthusiastic praise from fans. December 2024 saw the release of new game modes, including Ballistic, LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life, and Fortnite OG.

Fortnite Festival itself is a significant mode, offering unique gameplay and considered by many a spiritual successor to Guitar Hero. Players use various instruments to play songs, purchasing licensed music and instrument cosmetics from the Item Shop. Recently, Epic Games added local co-op to Fortnite Festival, enhancing the multiplayer experience. The mode has also seen collaborations with major artists like Snoop Dogg, Metallica, and Lady Gaga.

Epic Games surprised players by extending the use of Fortnite Festival instruments into the battle royale mode. Microphones, guitars, and other instruments are now selectable as both back blings and pickaxes. An instrument can be equipped as both simultaneously; it disappears from the back when used as a pickaxe and reappears upon switching items. This update also features a major Hatsune Miku crossover, adding new outfits and instruments.

Fortnite’s Instruments Can Now Be Used as Pickaxes and Back Blings

Players can easily access the new instrument feature by navigating to their locker and using the new "instruments" filter for back blings and pickaxes. Existing instruments previously limited to back bling or pickaxe use have also been updated for use within Fortnite Festival, offering expanded functionality. This highly requested feature has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community.

The update also includes new Godzilla collaboration cosmetics. Fans can choose between pink and blue edit styles for the Godzilla outfit and unlock additional accessories, including a wrap, harvester, and glider, through battle pass challenges. The wealth of new content in this update has generated significant excitement among Fortnite players.
