Back to the Future Writer Rules Out Franchise Expansion

Back to the Future screenwriter Bob Gale has definitively stated there will never be any sequels, prequels, or spinoffs of the iconic film franchise. This comes after speculation arose when Cobra Kai creators discussed potentially adapting the time-travel classic into a TV series.
"I don't understand why this keeps coming up!" Gale told People magazine. "Do they think repeating it enough will make it happen? In every interview people ask about Back to the Future 4, prequels, spinoffs - the answer is always never. The trilogy stands perfectly as it is. As Bob Zemeckis always said, it's 'perfect enough.'"

While Gale maintains this position, Hollywood's corporate power could theoretically override this stance. However, executive producer Steven Spielberg would need to approve any revival - something Gale considers highly unlikely.
"Unless some corporate giant threatened our families, it's not happening," Gale joked. "Steven Spielberg understands and respects our position, just like he won't allow another E.T. He's always supported keeping Back to the Future as it is."
Gale has consistently rejected revival possibilities. Earlier this year, he bluntly responded to sequel requests saying: "When people ask about Back to the Future 4? F**k you."
The original 1985 film introduced Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, who accidentally travels back in time with eccentric scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). This spawned one of cinema's most beloved sci-fi franchises with two acclaimed sequels.
