The acclaimed Spanish studio, MercurySteam, renowned for their contributions to titles like *Castlevania: Lords of Shadow* and *Metroid Dread*, has announced their latest endeavor: an action-RPG named *Blades of Fire*. In partnership with publisher 505 Games, the game aims to transport players into an immersive dark fantasy realm, teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.
The debut trailer for *Blades of Fire* offers a glimpse into its dynamic hack-and-slash combat system, distinct visual aesthetics, and a brooding, atmospheric backdrop. The game's mechanics and artistic flair echo those found in *Lords of Shadow*, while its environmental and enemy designs draw inspiration from *Darksiders*. A standout feature from the trailer is a mechanical bird, which appears to be a key element for navigating the expansive game world.
Developed using MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, *Blades of Fire* is poised to sidestep the optimization challenges commonly faced by games built on Unreal Engine 5. This bespoke engine should ensure a smoother and more refined gaming experience.
Mark your calendars for the release of *Blades of Fire* on May 22, 2025. The game will be available on next-generation consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series, as well as on PC through the Epic Games Store (EGS).
