Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök that will be available to players next week. This free update, launching on March 20, celebrates the 20th anniversary of the franchise and introduces a range of in-game equipment inspired by one of its most iconic outfits.
In a detailed post on the PlayStation.Blog, Sony outlined the various elements of their anniversary celebrations. The Dark Odyssey collection stands out, offering a stunning black-and-gold aesthetic for Kratos, Atreus, and Freya, along with a variety of shields and weapons. This update is accessible to all God of War Ragnarök players on both PlayStation 5 and PC.
The highlight of the Dark Odyssey collection is undoubtedly the Kratos appearance and armor set, reminiscent of a skin originally exclusive to those who conquered God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. Players can acquire this coveted gear from any Lost Items chest in the base game or immediately in the roguelike Valhalla mode once the update is live. Additionally, the update introduces the ability to customize the appearance of Kratos’ weapons without affecting their abilities.
