For collectors with an eye for completion, the Promo Card section in Pokemon TCG Pocket typically offers a satisfying checklist—until now. The sudden appearance of an unobtainable Promo Card 008 has disrupted this sense of order.
When Did Promo Card 8 Appear in Pokemon TCG Pocket?
The Promo Card collection in Pokemon TCG Pocket was neatly filled until early 2025, when an unclaimable card mysteriously appeared. A new slot labeled Promo Card 008 emerged in the Promo – A Card Dex section, leaving a frustrating gap between Professor Oak (007) and Pikachu (009).

Judging by the numbering, this card has likely existed for some time but previously didn't display as a blank space. Now that it does, players are eager to know when they'll be able to complete their collections.
What Is Promo Card 008 in Pokemon TCG Pocket?
While currently unavailable, some detective work reveals what Promo Card 008 contains. By selecting other Promo Cards like Red Card (006) and viewing their Related Cards section, you can spot a greyed-out image of the missing card: an alternate-art Pokedex illustration featuring the iconic Kanto starters.

Clicking the preview leads to a description confirming the card will be "obtained from a campaign"—similar phrasing to the limited-time New Year 2025 Pikachu promo. This distinguishes it from cards earned through missions or Wonder Pick events, suggesting it may commemorate a future promotion.
While the exact release method remains unknown, completionists can temporarily hide unowned cards from view to avoid staring at that empty slot. Pokemon TCG Pocket is currently available on mobile devices.
