Indus picks up five million downloads and concludes first international playtest in Manila

Jan 05,2025 Author: Bella

Indus, the Indian-made battle royale shooter, has achieved a significant milestone: over five million Android downloads and 100,000 iOS downloads within just two months of its release. This follows a successful international playtest in Manila and a prestigious Google Play Award win (Best Made in India Game 2024).

This surge in popularity positions Indus as a strong contender in the Indian gaming market, vying for dominance against competitors like FAU-G: Domination. The Manila playtest, held at the YGG Play Summit, provided valuable feedback and exposure, allowing local esports professionals to experience the game firsthand.

SuperGaming, the developer behind Indus, has further solidified its esports ambitions with the launch of the Clutch India Movement. This initiative centers around the Indus International Tournament, a competition running from October 2024 to February 2025, boasting a substantial INR 2.5 crore (approximately $31,000) prize pool.

Impressive Growth, Future Potential

While the five million downloads are impressive, they fall slightly short of the ten million pre-registrations. However, pre-registration numbers often don't fully translate into actual downloads. The relatively low iOS download count also suggests a need for further market penetration in that segment.

Despite this, SuperGaming's proactive approach—including international playtests and an esports tournament—demonstrates its ambitious vision for Indus's growth. The company's strategic moves suggest a commitment to establishing Indus as a leading force in the Indian and potentially global gaming landscape.
