Get ready for high-speed thrills! Nintendo has just announced the addition of two classic F-Zero GBA racing games to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack!
F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend Zoom onto Switch Online
Launching October 11, 2024
Nintendo's announcement confirms the arrival of F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack on October 11th.
The F-Zero franchise, Nintendo's futuristic racing series, debuted in Japan over 30 years ago (1990) and quickly became a critical darling. Its influence is undeniable, inspiring other racing giants like SEGA's Daytona USA. Known for pushing the technological boundaries of its time, F-Zero games on SNES and beyond were renowned for their breakneck speed.
Like Mario Kart, F-Zero features intense racing action with track obstacles and rival machine battles. The series' iconic protagonist, Captain Falcon, even appears in Super Smash Bros.!
F-Zero: GP Legend initially launched in Japan in 2003, followed by a global release in 2004. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, remained region-locked until now—marking a 19-year wait for international players. In a past interview, F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura cited Mario Kart's immense popularity as a factor in the F-Zero series' extended hiatus.
This October 2024 Switch Online + Expansion Pack update brings both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend to subscribers. Get ready to compete in Grand Prix, story modes, and various time trials!
