The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will feature distinct pricing strategies for Japan and the global market, reflecting variations in available system versions and regional economic factors. The new console will come in two versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusive to Japan, and a Multi-Language System version available worldwide.
Switch 2 Will Have 2 Language System Versions

In Japan, the Nintendo Switch 2's Japanese-language system version will be priced at approximately $330. This contrasts with the Multi-Language System version, which will be available globally at $449.99—a price difference of over $100. This discrepancy can be largely attributed to the current weakness of the yen against the US dollar, which impacts purchasing decisions for tourists in Japan.
Residents of Japan have the option to purchase either version, though the Japanese-language system is exclusively available in Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japan region. This version supports only the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.
For fans outside of Japan or those who prefer a multilingual experience, Nintendo recommends purchasing the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version are set to be disclosed on April 4.
Switch 2 Will Be Sold By Lottery At The My Nintendo Store

The acquisition of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be managed through a lottery system on the My Nintendo Store. Additionally, various retailers and online shops across Japan will start accepting reservations or lottery entries from April 24, based on availability. To participate in the My Nintendo Store lottery, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- By February 28, 2025, have accumulated at least 50 hours of playtime on Nintendo Switch software (excluding demo and free software).
- At the time of application, have been subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online for a cumulative period of at least one year and remain an active subscriber.
More detailed information about the application process will be available on the My Nintendo Store on April 4.
