John Wick 5 is now officially in the works, with Lionsgate confirming that the 60-year-old Keanu Reeves will reprise his iconic role. The announcement came during CinemaCon, delivered by Adam Fogelson, the chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. The development of John Wick: Chapter 5 has kicked off, with Thunder Road producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, along with franchise director and producer Chad Stahelski, and star and producer Keanu Reeves, all returning to the project. Although no specific release date has been disclosed yet, the excitement is palpable among fans.
The decision to greenlight another installment in the John Wick series is hardly surprising, given the phenomenal success of John Wick: Chapter 4, which grossed over $440 million worldwide. Each film in the franchise has managed to surpass the box office earnings of its predecessor, a rare achievement in the film industry. However, some fans might find the announcement puzzling, especially considering the conclusive ending of John Wick: Chapter 4.
Warning! Spoilers for John Wick: Chapter 4 follow.
