From the second riddle onward, Barley ups the ante, challenging you to wager groschen. The stakes increase with each subsequent riddle (100, then 150 groschen). Winning earns you either the wager or skill experience. Strategically choosing between groschen and skill points, depending on your current progress, is key.
The riddles themselves are cleverly designed. The second uses the number of legs each animal has as a clue; the third is a test of memory; and the fourth involves simple arithmetic.
Pinpointing Riddler Barley's location is tricky; his appearances are random. However, your chances of encountering him increase by frequently fast traveling between settlements or simply exploring the open world. Keep an eye out for an NPC trying to get your attention – that's your cue to approach and begin the riddle-solving fun!
