League of Legends Back Tracks on Their Unpopular Changes
Hextech Chests Are Coming Back
League of Legends (LoL) is set to reintroduce Hextech Chests following extensive fan feedback. On February 27, 2025, Riot Games shared a comprehensive developer update on their website, complemented by a detailed video on their YouTube channel.
In the update, LoL acknowledged that recent changes hadn't fully met community expectations, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
The reintroduction of Hextech Chests was a direct response to fan outcry. LoL explained, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Starting with patch 25.05, players can once again earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and keys per act. Eight of these will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two obtainable through the Honor system.
Exalted Morderkaiser Delayed and More Fan Feedback Changes

Riot Games also announced the delay of the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, as the team aims to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act as originally planned.
In response to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, acknowledging "clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."
To enhance player accessibility, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting with patch 25.05, addressing recent discussions about blue essence and champion shards.
Additionally, the developers have decided to reverse their earlier decision to reduce the frequency of Clash events. The game will now revert to a monthly Clash schedule, with March’s event featuring ARURF and a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Returns

In response to popular demand, LoL is set to bring back fan-favorite features like Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium. Your Shop will return in patch 25.06, while the Emporium will follow in patch 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to ongoing refinement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
With these updates, Riot Games demonstrates a clear dedication to listening to their community and making League of Legends a better experience for its players.
