How to Watch Disney's Live-Action Lilo & Stitch
Jan 22,2026Author: Carter
The live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch has hit theaters, and I'm personally on the fence about watching it. Our review scored it a solid 8 out of 10, but I'm wary of potentially dimming my love for the original. If you're planning to catch this Disney live-action film in theaters, you have choices. This weekend, it's showing in both standard and IMAX formats.
If you're waiting for the digital release, however, prepare for a longer wait. In the meantime, you can always revisit the original animated classic on Disney+—which I intend to do.
Showtimes and Formats for the Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Remake
The Lilo & Stitch remake is now screening in theaters nationwide. Use the links below to find showtimes in your area.
Alongside standard showings, the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake is offered in IMAX and 3D. Limited 4DX screenings may also be available, though they're less common. Check Fandango for theaters near you that feature these formats.
When Will the Movie Be Available for Home Viewing?
If you plan to skip theaters and watch at home, be prepared for a delay. Previous Disney live-action remakes typically debut on digital platforms 45 to 65 days after theatrical release. For example, the recent Snow White remake arrived digitally in under two months. Based on box office performance, Lilo & Stitch could see a digital release in July or August. Disney has expressed strong confidence in the film, with sequel talks already underway.
Streaming on Disney+ will require even more patience. New Disney films usually hit the platform around 100 days after theatrical release, though timing can vary. Based on past summer releases, expect Lilo & Stitch on Disney+ by late August or early September.
Where to Stream or Buy the Original Film
To enjoy the original 2D-animated Lilo & Stitch, it's currently streaming on Disney+. Without a subscription, you can rent or purchase a digital copy affordably on Prime Video.
For permanent ownership, a new 4K edition of the original movie released earlier this year has gained popularity. It's a recommended addition to any Disney collection.
