The stress test for what might be the eighth and final major patch of Baldur's Gate III has now kicked off. Earlier, some Sony console players got a sneak peek at the patch, but if you're not keen on testing it out, the developers suggest reinstalling the game to ensure a smooth experience.
Patch 8 brings a host of exciting updates, with crossplay being a standout feature. This means players on different platforms—consoles and PC—can now join forces in the game. All you need is a linked Larian account to invite friends across platforms. What's more, modded gameplay will also support cross-platform play, but there are a couple of caveats. All mods used by the PC player must be compatible with Mac and consoles, and the host's lobby should not have more than a double-digit number of mods installed.
In terms of multiplayer enhancements, a much-anticipated feature is now in testing: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This feature was previously unavailable on this less powerful console, making it a significant update for Xbox Series S users.
Patch 8 doesn't stop there. It also introduces a photo mode with a plethora of customization options, and adds 12 new subclasses to enrich the gameplay experience. Larian Studios has also tackled various bugs and rebalanced certain elements, although some issues persist.
