Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset

Marvel Rivals Rank Reset Mid-Season Proves Too Controversial, Prompting ReversalFollowing significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has rescinded its planned mid-season rank reset. The developer announced the reversal in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative feedback generated by Dev Talk 10's initial announcement.

Dev Talk 10 outlined a system that would reset player ranks four divisions lower every 45 days (mid-season). This was met with widespread criticism from players, who felt the frequent resets were demotivating.

Dev Talk 11 clarified that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will retain their existing ranks and scores from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset remains, dropping players six divisions.

New Heroes and Other Updates Remain

The addition of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is proceeding as scheduled. NetEase Games continues its commitment to releasing two new playable characters per three-month season.

Reward structures for high-ranking players also remain unchanged. Players reaching Gold rank or higher will receive a free Invisible Woman costume. Grandmaster and above will receive Crests of Honor. Additional rewards, including another free costume and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above, are planned for end-of-season Gold rank achievers. Balance adjustments are also anticipated following the mid-season update, though specifics are yet to be revealed.

Community Response and Developer Acknowledgement

The mid-season update is slated for February 21, 2025. Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for further updates on our Marvel Rivals page.
