Marvel's Spider-Man 2: PC Release Details
January 30th, 2025: The Official Launch Date
After captivating PlayStation 5 players in 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is officially coming to PC. Developed and optimized by Nixxes Software in close collaboration with Insomniac Games, PlayStation, and Marvel Games, the PC port promises a top-tier experience. Nixxes, known for their high-quality PC ports of PlayStation titles (including the previous Spider-Man games and *Horizon Forbidden West*), ensures a smooth transition.
The PC version boasts ray tracing, ultrawide monitor support, and extensive graphical customization options for optimal performance. While features like DualSense adaptive triggers and haptic feedback won't be replicated, keyboard and mouse support and ultrawide compatibility are key highlights.
"Bringing Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to PC with Insomniac and Marvel Games has been fantastic," stated Julian Huijbregts, Nixxes Community Manager. Mike Fitzgerald, Insomniac Games' Core Technology Director, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the PC version's tailored graphical options.
All post-launch content updates from the PS5 version will be included. This means twelve new suits (including Symbiote Suit styles), New Game+, "Ultimate Levels," enhanced Photo Mode features, new time-of-day options, and post-game achievements. The Digital Deluxe Edition will offer even more. However, no new story content will be added.
PSN Account Requirement: A Point of Contention
A significant drawback is the requirement of a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, a growing trend among PlayStation PC ports. This excludes players in regions without PSN access, raising concerns about accessibility. While Sony previously reversed a similar policy for Helldivers 2, the issue persists with several other titles. The necessity of linking a Steam account to PSN for single-player games remains a point of debate among players.
The PC release completes the trilogy's arrival on PC, showcasing Sony's commitment to expanding its reach beyond PlayStation consoles. While the PSN requirement needs addressing, the effort to bring exclusive titles to PC is commendable. Whether you're a returning player or a newcomer, January 2025 can't arrive soon enough. Game8 awarded the PS5 version an 88, praising it as a superb sequel.
