Metaphor fans, rejoice! The first chapter of the official Metaphor: ReFantazio manga is now available to read for free on the MANGA Plus website. This exciting adaptation comes to us through a collaboration between Atlus and the renowned manga publisher Shueisha, with the talented Japanese manga artist Yōichi Amano (known for Akaboshi: Ibun Suikoden and Stealth Symphony) bringing the story to life.
While staying true to the essence of the video game, the manga introduces some creative changes. The first chapter notably omits a specific starting area from the game and introduces new events, reshaping others, including the way the protagonist, now officially named Will, meets his allies. This alteration adds a fresh perspective to the narrative, enhancing the manga's appeal.

Metaphor: ReFantazio marks a new venture for Atlus, developed by Studio Zero under the guidance of Katsura Hashino, the acclaimed director and producer behind Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5. The game follows Will, the protagonist, and his fairy companion Gallica, on a quest to save the prince of the United Kingdom of Euchronia from a cursed fate.
The narrative takes a dramatic turn with the assassination of the king, plunging the kingdom into chaos. In his final act, the king wishes for the people to choose the next leader, drawing Will into a grander destiny than he ever imagined.
Upon its launch, Metaphor: ReFantazio achieved unprecedented success, selling over one million copies worldwide on its first day, surpassing the sales of Persona 3: Reload from early 2024. The game's critical acclaim continued as it garnered high scores and prestigious awards at the 2024 The Game Awards, including Best RPG, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative.
