Farlight Games, fresh off a successful 2024 partnership with Lilith Games on AFK Journey, is launching Ace Trainer – a unique blend of tower defense, pinball, and creature collection. Currently in soft launch in South Korea and the US, Ace Trainer offers a fresh take on the familiar monster-collecting genre.
Instead of traditional turn-based battles, players train and level up fantastical creatures to defend against zombie hordes in a tower defense style. The game also incorporates pinball mechanics for resource gathering, creating an unconventional gameplay experience. While a global release isn't guaranteed, the multi-regional soft launch suggests Farlight has high expectations for Ace Trainer.
A Risky Formula?
Ace Trainer's gameplay is ambitious, incorporating PvP, PvE, tower defense, and pinball elements. This "kitchen sink" approach, while potentially appealing to a broad audience, raises questions about long-term engagement. The success of this eclectic mix remains to be seen.
