N64 Exclusives Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has announced three new enhancements coming to Nintendo 64 games through its Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, though two features will be exclusively available on the upcoming Switch 2.
The additions include customizable controller mappings, a rewind function, and a CRT screen filter – three quality-of-life improvements retro gaming fans have long requested.
The nostalgic CRT Filter remains exclusive to Switch 2 hardware
Original Switch owners will only receive the controller customization feature, while Switch 2 adopters gain access to all three functionalities when the new console launches June 5th.
The staggered rollout has already sparked discussions among Nintendo fans. "Switch 2 exclusive CRT filter? Seriously?" commented one user on Nintendo's feature showcase video. Another remarked sarcastically, "Ah yes, CRT simulation – truly a benchmark of next-gen power."

Nintendo demonstrated these enhancements using classic titles: Super Mario 64 and Mario Golf showcased the Rewind function, Kirby 64 highlighted the CRT television simulation, while Star Fox 64 served as example for controller configuration.
The universal controller remapping feature comes to both console generations
With Switch 2's June 5 launch approaching, Nintendo has preemptively updated the Switch Online application. Interestingly, an early Switch 2 unit surfaced briefly online before Nintendo's legal team swiftly removed the leaked content.
Recent Switch 2 developments include performance enhancements for legacy Switch games, adaptive refresh rate specifications, and details about GameChat's phone verification requirement. Though pre-orders sold out rapidly last month, Nintendo America assures sufficient holiday inventory.
