In the opening scenes of NieR: Automata, players are thrust into the midst of 2B's mission. After landing your flight unit and engaging in combat with melee weapons, you'll initially wield a one-handed sword and a two-handed sword. The two-handed sword, known as the Virtuous Treaty, is a formidable weapon that you'll lose shortly after the prologue. However, fear not, as you can reclaim it soon after you gain the ability to freely explore in the subsequent chapter.
Where To Get The Virtuous Treaty In NieR: Automata
The Virtuous Treaty is the first additional weapon you can acquire in the game, and it's conveniently located near your initial spawn point after leaving the bunker for the surface. Once you land in the city ruins and descend to the lower area, look to your left to spot a highway above the nearest access point. Head towards the highway, using the ruins to climb up and run along the main road. This path will lead you back to the factory.
Upon reaching the factory, follow the grassy path towards the main structure. On the left side, you'll find another access point and a set of stairs leading to an upper area. In this upper area, look to the left to see the remnants of the destroyed bridge where you battled the Goliath-class enemy. Run to the edge of the destroyed bridge, and you'll find the Virtuous Treaty embedded in the ground, ready to be reclaimed.
Just beyond the sword to the right, you'll find your old body, which you can loot to recover all your consumables from the prologue.
Virtuous Treaty Base Stats In NieR: Automata

- Attack: 300-330
- Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2
As with most two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels in delivering wide-sweeping attacks that can hit multiple enemies with significant damage. However, its attack speed is relatively slow. Through upgrades, this weapon can achieve one of the highest damage outputs in the game, provided you can adapt to its slower attack speed. You can also enhance your combat strategy by combining this two-handed weapon with a faster one. By using a heavy attack during a quicker combo, you can briefly leverage the Virtuous Treaty's high damage potential, even if you can't execute its full combo.
