在NieR:Automata中死亡，你将损失自上次存档以来获得的所有经验值，以及当前装备的所有插件芯片。虽然你可以找到更多插件芯片，并找回相同的配置，但某些芯片较为稀有，且强化强大的芯片需要大量资金。重生后，你当前装备的插件槽将清空，你需要重新装备或选择其他预设配置。
死亡丢失的插件芯片并非永久消失，你只有一次机会回到死亡地点回收这些芯片，以及可能获得的经验值。如果你在回收遗体前再次死亡，则最初装备预设中的所有芯片将永久丢失。
死亡后重生，你的首要目标也是唯一目标应该是回收遗体。地图上会出现一个小小的蓝色遗体图标，标记你的遗体位置，你可以选择将其添加到追踪器中。靠近遗体后，只需与其互动即可找回所有插件芯片，同时你将有两个选择：
修复:
你不会找回经验值，但你的旧身体将成为一个AI伙伴，跟随你直到它死亡。
回收:
你将找回自上次存档以来死亡前获得的所有经验值。
无论你选择哪个选项，你都可以像之前一样装备旧的插件芯片，覆盖你当前的芯片设置。你也可以选择不这样做，所有回收的芯片将简单地放回你的库存中。
