Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack: Four Retro Classics Arrive

Beat 'em Ups, Racing, Puzzles, and Dodgeball!

Get ready for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo has unveiled four SNES titles from the early 90s, offering a diverse range of gameplay – from intense brawling to strategic puzzle-solving. Subscribers can look forward to beat 'em up action, high-speed racing, challenging puzzles, and even a dose of dodgeball fun.

First up, the iconic mashup: Battletoads/Double Dragon. Team up with the Battletoads and the Double Dragon brothers to defeat the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Choose from five playable characters, including Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) and the amphibian trio Zitz, Pimple, and Rash (Battletoads).

Originally released on NES in 1993 and later ported to SNES, this marks a long-awaited re-release for Battletoads/Double Dragon.

Next, dive into the dodgeball arena with Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (known as Super Dodgeball in the West). This fast-paced game features Kunio-kun from the River City series, challenging players to outmaneuver opponents in various locations, from indoor stadiums to outdoor beaches.

Initially launched for the Super Famicom in August 1993.

Puzzle enthusiasts will appreciate Cosmo Gang the Puzzle. Similar to Tetris and Puyo Puyo, strategically clear lines of containers and Cosmos to score big. Three modes are available: 1P Mode (solo play), VS Mode (head-to-head), and 100 Stage Mode (increasing difficulty). Line up containers horizontally and use blue orbs to remove Cosmos.

Initially released in arcades (1992) and later on SNES (1993), Cosmo Gang the Puzzle has seen releases on various platforms, including Wii, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.

Finally, experience the thrill of Big Run! Race across diverse African landscapes, from Tripoli to West Africa, in nine challenging stages. Strategic decision-making is key; choose your sponsor, build your team, and manage resources carefully.

Big Run originally debuted on the Super Famicom in 1991.
