Palworld developer Pocketpair is gearing up for an exciting update set to launch in late March 2025. This eagerly anticipated update will introduce crossplay functionality, enabling seamless multiplayer experiences across all platforms. Additionally, players will benefit from a new world transfer feature for Pals, enhancing the gameplay experience. While details remain sparse, Pocketpair shared a teaser image on X/Twitter, showcasing a group of Palworld characters engaged in battle with a formidable Pal.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at "a few little surprises" that will accompany the March update, adding an extra layer of anticipation for fans. This news is particularly exciting for the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access launch in January 2024. The studio has outlined a robust content roadmap for 2025, promising not only crossplay but also an "ending scenario" and additional new content for the wildly popular creature-catching survival game.
Palworld made a splash upon its release on Steam for $30 and on Xbox and PC through Game Pass, breaking records for sales and concurrent players. The overwhelming success led Pocketpair boss Takuro Mizobe to admit that the studio was initially unprepared for the massive profits generated by the game. In response, Pocketpair quickly moved to expand the Palworld universe, signing a deal with Sony to create Palworld Entertainment. This new venture aims to further develop the IP and bring the game to the PlayStation 5.
However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, alleging infringement on "multiple" patent rights and seeking both an injunction and compensation for damages. In response, Pocketpair has identified the specific patents in question and made adjustments to the game, such as modifying how players summon Pals. The studio remains steadfast, ready to defend its position in court and continue asserting its stance through future legal proceedings.
