Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Highlights Superman Connections and New DCU Characters

Max has unveiled a new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, showcasing strong ties to Superman with appearances by Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner in the opening scene.

The trailer opens with Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl conducting a tense interview with John Cena’s Peacemaker for a superhero team. The exchange goes poorly, leaving Peacemaker visibly frustrated as he exits the scene.

These glimpses introduce supporting characters set to appear in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 premieres August 21, following the July 11 debut of Superman, marking the third entry in the DCU after Creature Commandos launched last year.

Under the direction of James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, the rebooted DCU shifts away from the poorly received DC Extended Universe, including films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel, while retaining select elements.

Peacemaker exemplifies this transition, with Season 1 rooted in the now-defunct DCEU and Season 2 integrated into the new DCU.

Gunn has noted that "many aspects of Peacemaker’s story will stay consistent," though specifics on what carries over from DCEU to DCU remain unclear. He confirmed the return of Team Peacemaker with the same cast, including John Cena as the lead, alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Gunn also revealed that the show’s timeline follows the events of Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter’s events directly influencing Peacemaker.
